Catching Transmission Trouble Early
Slipping under load is the obvious one — revs climb and the machine does not pull.
Before that you usually get harsh or delayed engagement, and a driver who has stopped mentioning it because he is used to it.
The oil tells the story. Overheating, a burnt smell, or friction material in the filter all mean the clutch packs are going.
Oil analysis at service is the cheapest early warning there is.
Exchange Unit or Rebuild
] On a high-hour machine a complete exchange transmission often works out cheaper once you count the labour, and it gets the machine back to work sooner. Where the damage is contained — a clutch pack, a pump, a set of seals — we supply the components to rebuild.
