Hydraulic Motors, Swing Motors and Travel Motors

Hydraulic motors take the flow the pump produces and turn it back into rotation — swinging the upper structure, driving the tracks, turning the cooling fan. A tired swing motor does not stop an excavator outright. It just makes every load cycle slower, which on a truck-loading job costs more than the repair.
What we supply
Swing motors — complete with gearbox and brake, for rotating the upper structure
Travel motors — usually paired with the final drive planetary
Fan drive motors — for the hydraulically driven cooling systems on newer machines
Auxiliary motors — augers, brush cutters and compactors
Brands and Models
Caterpillar 312 to 395, Komatsu PC130 to PC1250 and Volvo EC210 to EC460 make up most of what we handle.
Hitachi ZX200 to ZX470, plus Doosan, Hyundai, Kobelco, JCB and other makes, supplied on request.
The motors themselves are commonly Kawasaki M2X or M5X, Nabtesco, Rexroth or Uchida units.
Signs Your Hydraulic Motors Are Failing
On swing, the tells are drift and noise.
The slew creeps when it should be stopped, the swing goes soft in one direction but not the other, and there is a whine from the gearbox area.
On a slope the swing brake stops holding, which is a safety problem before it is a repair.
On fan drives the symptom shows up as engine temperature.
A fan turning slowly looks like a cooling fault and gets diagnosed as one, when the motor is at fault.
Across all of them, oil leaking from the housing and metal in the hydraulic filter mean the same thing.
