Hydraulic Cylinders for Earthmoving Equipment

Hydraulic cylinders do the actual work — lifting the boom, curling the bucket, angling the blade, steering the loader. They live in dust and mud and take knocks all day, and the difference between a cheap repair and an expensive one usually comes down to how quickly someone noticed the leak.

When a Cylinder Needs Attention
It starts as a weep at the gland and gets ignored, because the machine still works. Then the boom drifts down when it should be held, and the operator compensates. By the time anyone looks properly the chrome is scored, and what would have been a seal kit is now a rod or a whole cylinder.
Watch for scoring, pitting or flaking chrome, a bend after impact, one side moving slower than its opposite number, and worn pin bores at the mounting eyes.
Seal Kit, Rod or Complete Cylinder
If the rod and tube are sound and only the seals have gone, a seal kit is by far the cheapest fix. If the chrome is scored or the rod is bent but the tube is good, we supply the rod on its own. If the tube is scored, or the machine cannot wait, a complete cylinder is the answer.
Photographs settle this quickly. Send them with the machine details and we will tell you what is worth doing.
